Wyalong House

Modern pavilion extension for a young family

Proposed modern extension with skillion roofs is located at the back of the existing house and opens to sunny courtyard with far views to the west. The new section of the house is attached via a narrow link creating two small courtyards between existing house and the new. The floor levels rise gradually following the gentle slope. The new extension is based on passive solar design principles allowing for cross ventilation and a natural warming of the interiors during summer months.

The existing vegetation on the north boundary helps to create a shaded garden during hot summer months.

The proposed modern extension at the back of the existing red brick residence is not visible from the street and is not impacting on the heritage area streetscape.
